Kristaps Porziņģis: Latvian Basketball Superstar
Early Life and Career
Kristaps Porziņģis was born on August 2, 1995, in Liepāja, Latvia. He began playing basketball at a young age and quickly rose through the ranks, joining the youth team of hometown club BK Liepājas Lauvas at age 14.
In 2012, Porziņģis signed with Spanish club Sevilla and made his ACB debut at 17. He quickly impressed with his size, athleticism, and shooting ability.
NBA Career
In 2015, Porziņģis was selected fourth overall by the New York Knicks in the NBA Draft. He quickly established himself as a rising star, averaging 14.3 points and 7.3 rebounds per game during his rookie season.
Porziņģis continued to improve in subsequent seasons, averaging 22.7 points and 6.8 rebounds per game in 2017-18. However, his Knicks career was marred by injuries, and he was traded to the Dallas Mavericks in 2019.
Continued Success
In Dallas, Porziņģis has continued to shine. He averaged 20.1 points and 9.5 rebounds per game in 2019-20, and 22.7 points and 8.7 rebounds per game in 2020-21.

National Team Career
Porziņģis has also been a key member of the Latvian national team. He helped lead the team to the quarterfinals of the 2016 Olympic Games, and was named to the All-Tournament Team.
