The reality of Brexit is biting hard. Poor people are suffering the most, and now everyone can see it. As someone who has always said that Brexit would be a disaster, it is no surprise to me that the economy is in a bad way. Brexit is to blame, and here is how it happened.

What Comes Next

With only a year left until the UK is due to leave the EU, it is time to change course. The Guardian view on Brexit is that it is a failure. We concluded that Brexit could only be judged a success if it passed the following tests:

• It must improve the UK economy
• It must strengthen the UK's security
• It must preserve the UK's international standing

Brexit has failed on all three counts. The economy is worse off, security is weaker, and the UK's international standing has been damaged. It is time to change course and stay in the EU.
