Share

After 17 months of turbulent negotiations, on 14 November the British government finally reached an agreement with the European Union on the terms of the UK's withdrawal from the bloc. The deal, which was approved by the UK Parliament on 20 January, paves the way for the UK to leave the EU on 29 March 2019.

The UK's exit from the EU has been a contentious issue, with strong opinions on both sides of the debate. Cartoonists have been quick to reflect this divide in their work, producing a wealth of cartoons that both support and oppose Brexit.

Some cartoons have focused on the perceived benefits of Brexit, such as the UK's ability to control its own borders and make its own laws. Others have satirized the perceived risks of Brexit, such as the potential for economic damage and social unrest.

No matter which side of the debate they fall on, the cartoons of Brexit provide a valuable insight into the complex and often contradictory views that exist on this issue. They are a reminder that humor can be a powerful tool for both expressing and understanding our political opinions.
